IB French Oral Exam Preparation
You have a copy of the oral exam criteria for ab-initio, HL or SL. In order to prepare for the exam you should re -read articles handed out in class and do the additional reading on the topics. Your oral is on Option Santé and Option Loisirs - you will be able to choose either option. You should read your articles, make a list of relevant vocabulary words, and make list of pertinent ideas or issues that you would want to talk about. Refer to the Question Guidantes. However, you should also be making a list of the important questions that should be raised in a discussion on the topic and know what issues remain unresolved concerning the topic (des polémiques).
You can sketch out an argument, recount personal experiences, make connections to the other topics studied, make connections to TOK and other subjects and give your personal opinion. Here is a suggested format:
1) State Name and Candidate Number ( mandatory)
2) Describe picture and title of picture – is it a photo? cartoon? advertisement? what does it show.
3) Identify which Option the picture relates to in your opinion.
4) Explain why you chose this picture
a) describe relevant issues and define terms
b) include information on the specific situation in a Francophone country or region
c) compare the francophone situation to British Columbia or to another country
d) if desired make connections with other topics, subjects or classes including other options or the core
5) Give your personal opinion, reaction or explain how this has changed your perspective. Will it change your life or cause you to make different decisions or take different actions?
You have the choice of four aspects – La Santé et la pollution de l’environnement ; Le Stress ; Le Voyage ; Les Jeux et Jeux-vidéos (y compris la dépendance sur les Jeux-vidéos)
Please study three out of four. In addition to the articles handed out in class, I suggest that you skim these articles to find relevant information that you may wish to bring up. See especially the You-tube explanations of the topics. It is not important to know the entire video or article nor do you have to read or watch each one. Skim to find the ones you want to read and to pick out pertinent information.
